NETSPACE® LAUNCHES BACKVAULT(TM):
AN ADVANCED ONLINE, OFF-SITE
FILE SHARING AND BACKUP STORAGE PROGRAM
MIAMI, FL April 5, 2003 -- Netspace® , a developer of smart digital solutions for the small to mid-sized business market and provider of these solutions to Netspace® Internet consulting franchises in the U.S. and Britain, has launched BackVault(TM), a Web-based automated, remote back-up, file sharing and storage program that features leading edge security and back-up capabilities, announced founder and president Elliot Krasnow.
Developed in conjunction with a rocket science engineer and a former military intelligence officer who specialized in data security, BackVault's services allow customers to remotely backup, store, and access critical information more easily, reliably and efficiently than ever before, with the highest levels of security and availability, according to Krasnow.
BackVault helps fast-growing organizations quickly and easily access virtually unlimited data storage capacity and capabilities, on-demand. It is ideal for engineers, lawyers, architects and medical professionals who need to access, share and securely protect large, client-sensitive files including law briefs, CAD files, medical records and so on," said Krasnow. This program comes to market in response to post 9-11 demand from client firms around the country who want to protect their data to the highest degree possible."
BackVault stores files on special remote servers -- separate from the Netspace® servers used to host client websites, and employs best practices in its firewall and access control systems. BackVault uses a multi-layer security model distinguished by the following features:
- Physical access to the site and machines where customer data is stored in highly restricted server environments and ensured via use of biometric scanners, security escorts, access logs, roving guards, etc.
- BackVault maintains multiple sites which can provide operational alternatives if a single site is rendered incapable of functioning. Each site contains a 100% redundant architecture.
- Physical security is higher than that usually found at most businesses. BackVaultsÔ physical operations are serviced by four independent, high-speed Internet connections with redundant power supplies that can run independently of the local power grid for more than 45 days.
- Backvaults network architecture ensures that only limited Internet protocol (IP) addresses are exposed over the Internet
- All users of the BackVault network must be registered and possess a username, password and domain name. Additional authentication methods are available.
- Files remain encrypted at all times on BackVaults servers and can only be decrypted when downloaded and saved by the user.
- All files are double-backed up onto tapes which are stored offsite. Historic CDs are available to users.
- All of BackVaults proprietary software is kept under strict configuration control. Upgrades are thoroughly tested before promoted to a live data center.
Overall, we feel that BackVault maintains the highest level of security in the industry and a disaster prevention standard that assures protection of our customers data while it is in our care," said Krasnow. Anyone with a PC or laptop who needs secure protection for their files should consider it."
