Walk for Wildlife April 19
NBC 6's Lonnie Quinn to lead walk
The Second Annual Walk for Wildlife to benefit the Wildlife Care Center will be held on Saturday, April 19, at Quiet Waters Park, 401 S. Powerline Road, Deerfield Beach. Lonnie Quinn, Weather Anchor/Reporter for NBC 6, will lead the Walk. Animal lovers are invited to participate in this 1.25 mile walk, with or without their pets, to help raise funds for Florida's wildlife. Registration is from 8:30 am to 10:00 am, the Walk begins at 10:00am. Breakfast is provided by Earthsave Miami, and walkers will have the chance to win valuable prizes based on the amount of sponsorship dollars raised. All walkers who raise at least $75 will receive a t-shirt and doggie bandana. Top prizes include gift certificates, DVD players and digital cameras. A special prize will be offered for the most dollars raised by a child under 12.
Immediately following the Walk for Wildlife, participants are invited to attend Broward County's Earth Day Festival, from noon to dusk. The festival will include live music, food vendors, recycled paint and tree giveaways, wildlife and environmental programs, dog adoptions, a recycled fashion show, and exciting children's activities. The Wildlife Care Center is a nonprofit organization that has been caring for South Florida's wildlife for 33 years. Last year alone, 12,000 birds, mammals and reptiles were cared for at the facility located in Ft. Lauderdale.
