FOLIO BY EPORTARO OPENS TO RAVE REVIEWS AT ANNUAL NASPA CONFERENCE

Washington, DC -- March 30, 2003 -- Attendees of NASPAs Annual Conference, held in St. Louis last week got a full introduction to the electronic portfolio revolution hitting higher education. NASPA, the Association for Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, ePortaros first association client made Folio by ePortaro available to its members as an enhancement to its JobsLink service for both recruiters and job seekers.

Integration of Folio by ePortaro provided graduate students in Student Affairs degree programs the ability to build ePortfolios to document and showcase their career achievements, employment experience, academic qualifications and personal interests. ePortfolios provide an interactive way for students and others to share appropriate items with prospective campus employers.

Employers found the ePortfolio useful from a variety of perspectives, particularly the ability to build and reuse custom search queries which return the electronic portfolios of matching NASPA job candidates.

Students using the system for career purposes quickly started to recognize how electronic portfolios would help with academic requirements as well. Folio by ePortaro offers me the opportunity to demonstrate my work in a variety of concise, well-organized presentations. The potential for showcasing graduate students academic accomplishments is limitless," said Patrick Biddix, graduate student at the University of Mississippi.

Job candidates loved the easy ability to add files that employers could view. This is a great way for candidates to get noticed in the job process."

Additionally, ePortaro presented two separate sessions about the electronic portfolio revolution. One presentation described the future of career planning and placement using ePortfolios as tailored communication channels between job seekers and hirers. This joint NASPA/ePortaro presentation also described how NASPA was leveraging Folio by ePortaro for the benefit of its members.

Academic Uses of ePortfolios" was the topic of the second presentation. Describing how portfolios can positively impact the learning process through collection, projection, and collaboration; the session also reviewed best practices from the Folio by ePortaro implementation project at Drexel University.

The ePortfolio revolution in higher education is gaining speed as more universities find more ways to use electronic portfolios. Higher educations killer application", ePortfolios promise to improve the educational experience and to allow students and faculty to take advantage of the Internet to easily demonstrate learning, accomplishments and skills to third parties.
