Kay Koplovitz Joins Prima Consulting Group as the Head of the Media and Entertainment Division
(Santa Barbara, CA)- Kay Koplovitz, founder and former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of USA Networks, has joined Prima Consulting Group. Bringing with her twenty-five years of experience in the media and entertainment industry, Koplovitz will head up Prima's media and entertainment division. In this position, Koplovitz will work hand-in-hand with Prima's Management Team to provide clients with solution-targeted, industry specific experience.
"The media and entertainment industry is both highly competitive and ever changing," says Demetri Argyropoulos, President and CEO of Prima Consulting Group. "Prima seeks top caliber talent to keep ahead of the curve. Kay will aid Prima in addressing the increase demand for financing, expansion, and international growth within the sector."
Koplovitz is a pioneer in cable television networks and new media ventures, as well as an inspiration to entrepreneurial, corporate, and professional women around the world. In 1977, she founded USA Networks, becoming the first female network president in television history. During her tenure at USA, Koplovitz developed the station from an all sports service-where she was the first to negotiate cable rights to major league sports, including Major League Baseball, NBA, and NHL-into a leading provider of original programming around the world. Under her leadership, the Company also launched the SCI FI Channel, one of the top ranked networks in viewership today.
After stepping down from USA Networks in 1998, Koplovitz was appointed Chairman of the National Women's Business Council (NWBC) by President Bill Clinton. Recognizing that access to capital is the key to empowering women in the business arena, Koplovitz and the NWBC staff developed Springboard 2000, a unique enterprise designed to accelerate women's access to the equity markets as both entrepreneurs and investors. She also served for a year as CEO of Working Woman Network, implementing the transformation of the workingwoman brand into a multi-media resource for career-committed, entrepreneurial, corporate and professional woman. Currently, Koplovitz acts as Principal at Koplovitz & Company, a media investment and management firm specializing in new media investments.
"Prima distinguishes itself on multiple levels from other boutique consultancies," says Koplovitz. "After getting to know the company and its vision, I am pleased to be a part of it." She continues, saying, "I hope to help develop long-term, strategy-based solutions for Primas clients. A distinguished list of contributors will help the companys domestic and international businesses."
Koplovitz also serves as chair of the board at Broadway Television Network, the first and only company to successfully secure the rights to telecast live Broadway Musicals. She is also a member on the corporate boards of Instinet and Liz Claiborne.
"We are honored and excited to have Kay Koplovitz on our Board," says Demetri Argyropoulos, President and CEO of Prima Consulting Group. "She has contributed greatly to the industry - both as a pioneer on the forefront of the cable television revolution and as an industry leader that advocates and promotes enrepreneurialism among women. Her extensive experience adds tremendous value to our clients."
Koplovitz joins other distinguished professionals on Prima's Board, including Sven-Christer Nilsson, former Ericsson CEO, Harry Gelles, former investment banker at Goldman Sachs and Company, and Santa Barbara locals David Newton, head of the Entrepreneurial Program at Westmont College, and Per Peterson, Co-Founder of Commission Junction.
