THE AVENUES OF ART & DESIGN PRESENTS ITS SIXTH ANNUAL ART & DESIGN WALK MAY 31, 2003

Premier Community Event, Showcasing Latest In Interior Design, Fine Art, Fashion, and Cuisine, Will Benefit MOCA

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA -- The Avenues of Art & Design, the West Coasts premier destination for interior design, art galleries, showrooms, specialty shops and restaurants, is hosting its Sixth Annual Art & Design Walk. The event, which will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2003 from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the streets of Melrose Avenue and Robertson and Beverly Boulevards in West Hollywood.

The Sixth Annual Art & Design Walk festivities include activities in over 70 individual showrooms and art galleries. This year some of the unique offerings include a Tango Dancing demonstration, a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony, Native American performers and a special appearance by the multi-media performance art and music group String Theory." Special menus will be offered at many of the areas top restaurants, including Madeo, Il Piccolino, Petrossian Paris, Le Pain Quotidien and Hedleys. The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles will host The Contemporary Lounge at the Pacific Design Center from 4 -- 9:00 p.m. with light refreshment and music on the PDC Plaza and free admission to the exhibition: Roy McMakin -- A Door Meant as Adornment.

Gift Packages," each valued between $5,000 and $7,000 will be offered in a raffle ($50.00 for a booklet of 11 tickets) and are comprised of merchandise donated by over 50 businesses on the Avenues with a total estimated value of over $50,000. The packages will be displayed in participating stores and tickets will be sold starting in mid-April and during the Art & Design Walk. The proceeds will benefit the educational programs of The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA).

Sixth Annual Art & Design Walk

For the third consecutive year, The Avenues of Art & Design is partnering with The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM for the premiere exhibition of Chairing Styles," a display of 11 original chairs, designed by FIDMs graduating interior design students and 11 matching gowns, designed by FIDMs graduating fashion design students.

Architectural Digest is the official media sponsor of the event. Other official sponsors include the City of West Hollywood, the West Hollywood Convention & Visitors Bureau, Bristol Farms, Fiji Water, The Ligature, and Coffee Bean Tea Leaf.

A shuttle service will loop throughout the Avenues and special arrangements have been made with the City of West Hollywood to provide increased parking and transportation to the public that day.
