The public is invited to join the crew of "Old Ironsides" during an Easter service. The servce is non-denominational, free and begins at 8AM.
Sunday, April 20, at the Charlestown Navy Yard, the USS CONSTITUTION invites the public to join crewmembers, the National Park Service, Constitution Museum staff and their family members to an Easter Sunrise service.
The celebration will take place on the main deck of the historic warship, with refreshments served on the pier before service.
The ceremony is free and open to the public. All guests are asked to arrive between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. for security screening. Guests will be allowed to view Constitution's "Morning Colors" and hear the ship's cannon fire at 8:00 a.m. The ceremony will start at 8:05.
Reverends Holly Baylies and Dick Kimball from Saugus, MA will lead the non-denominational service. The Charlestown Chorale will perform well known Easter hymns and the Navy's "Eternal Father". In case of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the lower decks of the ship.
