NEW CEO AND REBRAND FOR ARCHER YOUNG
BUSINESS PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT AGENCY RELAUNCHES
NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE AND RELAUNCH FOR ARCHER YOUNG

Archer Young Marketing (AYM) has appointed a new Chief Executive and is re-branding and re-launching as Archer Young, the Business Performance Improvement (BPI) company.
Jamie Neil has been appointed Chief Executive and is implementing the re-launch with effect from today. A former theatre director and producer, Neil has 20 years experience in strategic planning, communications, conference production and incentive & motivation programmes. He was brought in by Archer Young management six months ago as a consultant to review the future direction of the company.
At the same time, David Sutherland, formerly Managing Director at McCarthy Cosby Paul Ltd has been appointed Client Services Director. (For full management structure see editors notes.)
Archer Young was founded in 1989 by Stephen Archer and Ken Young as a marketing company specialising in incentive & motivation programmes for the automotive industry. An MBO in 2001 saw Andy Holgate, Helena Winter-Brown and Craig McPhie take over.
Now up to 40 staff with an average year-on-year growth of 20% and a turnover of 8 million, the companys sector experience has diversified to include the pharmaceutical, IT, telecommunications, financial and retail. Clients include: AstraZeneca, Volkswagen Group, BP, EPSON, The Carphone Warehouse, HSBC and Gillette.
Archer Youngs relaunch has been designed to reflect the companys significantly expanded skills base as a multi-functional Business Performance Improvement company. Archer Youngs approach is via a 6A business performance improvement through people methodology, incorporating:
1. strategic planning (AIM)
2. organisational culture change (ALIGNMENT)
3. communication (AWARENESS)
4. training (ABILITY)
5. incentive & motivation programmes and events (ATTITUDE)
6. programme management (ACTION)

The new Archer Young logo has been designed by Adworks Design.

ARCHER YOUNG MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE
JAMIE NEIL -- CHIEF EXECUTIVE
After five years as theatre producer and director he moved into conference production spending 10 years with Caribiner and Spectrum Communications. His credits include product launches and major conferences for clients such as British Airways, Digital, Glaxo, Seat, Apple and Vauxhall. Between 1992 and 1993 he completed the Sloan Fellowship Programme at London Business School studying 15 subjects including Strategy, International Management, Marketing, Economics, Finance, Organisational Behaviour and New Ventures. He became Chief Executive of the IVCA, the industry association for companies involved in Conferences, Video and Film. Between 1995 and 1996 he worked as Programme Manager for General Motors Europe to co-ordinate a culture change programme for 50,000 people through 18 countries in Europe in 16 languages.
ANDY HOLGATE -- SALES DIRECTOR
Joined the Board of Archer Young as Sales Director in 1998, after spending 14 years in the Pharmaceutical Industry, working with blue-chip companies such as Rhône-Poulenc, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Hoechst-Roussel. During this period he was responsible for integrating multi-disciplinary sales forces through two large mergers. Prior to joining Archer Young he was responsible, as Managing Director, for repositioning and rebranding Sankyo Pharma, the UK subsidiary of the global Japanese pharma company.
HELENA WINTER-BROWN -- EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Helena has been with Archer Young for 7 years, following 3 years at CITP, a competitor to Archer Young in the conference and incentive business. Prior to this she was with the World Health Organisation based in Washington DC and Copenhagen for 7 years. Helena has been largely responsible for building a highly competent team of travel operators and for significantly improving the efficiency of this side of Archer Youngs business. Helena is highly experienced at both the planning and the operations side of group travel, conferences and corporate hospitality. Helena is responsible for the Proposal Team, development of existing business as Board Account Director and Special Projects.
CRAIG MCPHIE -- EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
After a sales and consumer marketing background with Rothmans International and Faberge, Craig moved into marketing communications and travel/event management, with companies such as Page & Moy, PCI and Abercrombie & Kent before joining Archer Young in January 2000. He has worked on major incentive programmes across the globe for clients such as the BBC, Ingram Micro, Nestle, Diageo, Epson and the Discovery Channel. Craig is a strongly focused individual, an excellent communicator and an outstanding networker within the industry. His responsibilities include Marketing, Business Development support and HR. as well as his Board Account Director responsibilities.
DAVID LAWSON -- FINANCE DIRECTOR
David has 13 years financial management experience in industry and professional practice, covering family owned businesses to UK quoted companies. He qualified with KPMG in Birmingham, and became Senior Manager with KPMG in the British Virgin Islands. Latterly he was Group Financial Controller and Company Secretary for Huntsworth PLC, a UK quoted company, which operates in the fields of PR, design, marketing services and sales promotion. He is a Chartered Accountant (ACA) and member of ICAEW.
DAVID SUTHERLAND -- CLIENT SERVICES DIRECTOR
Managing Director of largest independent database and direct marketing agency McCarthy Cosby Paul Ltd. Worked with clients including Vauxhall Motors, Digital Equipment Corporation, Pizza Hut, The Disney Corporation, Unisys, The Mortgage Corporation, American Express developing industry leading DM and customer loyalty programmes. Lowe Broadway (above the line agency), part of the Lowe Group, as Commercial Director working on Pan European communication programmes for new vehicle launches with General Motors Europe. Also developed and launched for Vauxhall, Channel Marketing programme across all brands in the UK as well as the implementation of the MasterFit Brand. Managing Director of Channel Marketing Agency, working with MG Rover, BMW, Porsche, Compaq, 3Com, HP, Stihl. Client Services Director at CRM agency working with Vodafone, FT.com, Vizzavi, Peugeot, Renault, GME, Air France, Hertz, Energis.
EMMA BAINBRIDGE -- HEAD OF EVENTS
Emma is a Meetings and Incentive Travel professional with 12 years experience. She joined Archer Young in 1999 as a Senior Account Manager and since then has been promoted to Account Director, Operations Director and, recently, to Head of the Events Department. Prior to joining Archer Young she worked for 2 years with Medical Action Communications as a Senior Project Co-ordinator, responsible for the management of a wide range of events for Pfizer Worldwide. This included their largest ever stand that carried a budget of $5m. Before that she worked with Carlson Marketing Group, where she was recruited to set up their loyalty programme for SAS Airlines.
KEVIN ROBINSON -- HEAD OF MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS
Kevin has worked in the marketing services/performance improvement industry since 1995. He joined Archer Young in October 2000 as Account Director and has since worked on a number of key client accounts, including BP, Novo Nordisk, Leo Pharmaceuticals and BP. He has recently been promoted to head up the new Marketing Communications department. He joined the business from Maritz, where he was responsible for managing clients such as Symantec, Bass Hotels, IBM, 3Com, Lloyds Bank, Mercedes and British Rail. His projects were primarily in the field of marketing communications, including channel marketing, consumer advertising, corporate branding and mystery shopping.
STEEVAN GLOVER -- CLIENT SERVICES ACCOUNT DIRECTOR
Steev has been with Archer Young since 1999, having joined as Account Manager. Since then he has successfully managed a number of key client accounts, including EPSON, Porsche, Staples, Computer 2000, Novartis and DHL. Prior to Archer Young, he worked as a Marcoms Project Manager for Arrows Electronics then Ingram Micro, running communications programmes for HP, IBM, Compaq and Microsoft, amongst others. These included consumer and trade communications, as well as conference and event organisation. He also spent 18 months working within a Market Research agency where he became a specialist in mystery shopper research.
