Magazines.com, a leading web based subscription agent serving the consumer magazine market, has acquired Subscription Network, the fast growing web based subscription agent serving the business-to-business magazine sector. The combined company will offer nearly 1,500 magazine titles serving the wide-ranging spectrum of consumer and business interests.
Magazine subscribers can soon go to one online destination to subscribe to magazines addressing all of their personal and professional interests. Additionally, the combined companys expanding affiliate network will extend targeted magazine subscription offers throughout the Internet via a network of partner sites.
We are excited to be growing our company through this strategic acquisition. Our goal is to make Magazines.com the preeminent magazine subscription site and adding controlled circulation business magazines is a significant step towards achieving that goal," said Jay Clarke, president of Magazines.com. We look forward to dramatically expanding the number of controlled titles in our network and the increasing the number of subscriptions generated for our business magazine clients, as we integrate Subscription Networks titles into the Magazines.com site over the coming weeks."
Subscription Networks president, Cliff Mulcahy, will join Magazines.com as vice president of business publications and will manage the business magazine division. Mr. Mulcahy has 20 years experience in business magazine publishing. He founded Subscription Network to provide business publishers with a cost effective alternative to traditional circulation methods. Previously, Mr. Mulcahy served as VP/publisher of Crains Business Marketing, a monthly publication focused on the marketing activities of leading B2B companies. He was founding publisher of Crains Franchise Times, a start up serving the small business and franchise market, and served as international advertising director of Crains Advertising Age. Other positions include group publisher of 101 Communications enterprise computing group and associate publisher of Ziff-Davis PC Magazine.
I am delighted to be merging Subscription Network with Magazines.com. This is what good strategic mergers are all about. Our potential as a stand-alone entity was limited. With the resources of Magazines.com behind us we plan to grow rapidly and emerge as the leader in the controlled magazine sector." Mulcahy will manage the business magazine division from the Summit, New Jersey offices of Magazines.com and will report directly to the president of Magazines.com.
