Cedar Brewing Company Announces; Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Repeal Of Prohibition

Cedar Rapids, IA - Seventy years ago on April 7th, thirteen years of prohibition came to an end in Cedar Rapids and the rest of the United States after great public pressure on the Roosevelt administration. At that time, President Roosevelt asked Congress to modify the Volstead Act to allow 3.2% alcohol beer to be sold with a federal tax, and Congress agreed. Just minutes after midnight on April 7, 1933, a beer truck sporting a sign that read, "President Roosevelt, the first real beer is yours," delivered two cases of legal beer to the White House.

Cedar Brewing Company celebrates the anniversary of the end of prohibition with a "Repeal" celebration during Happy Hour, Mondays through Thursdays throughout the month of April, with beer and wine features paired with Cedar Brew's great appetizers. Cedar Brewing Company's Managing Partner, Bradley Smith, commented, "Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Repeal of Prohibition and the return of spring at Cedar Brewing Company, Cedar Rapid's only Brew Pub Restaurant. We are featuring our award-winning micro-brewed beers and extensive list of wines paired with our delicious appetizers." Cedar Brewing Company - "The Cedar Rapids Place to Be"TM
