Turbo Shield -- Own the Wind at the Flip of a Switch
April 5, 2003, Franklin, TN & Sturtevant, WI
Turbo Shield is an aerodynamic device that mounts under the front bumper of a vehicle. When the unit is deployed at highway speeds, it totally tames the turbulence under the vehicle.
Its all about controlling airflow and Owning the Wind". Fuel efficiency, handling and aerodynamics all revolve around the type of path your RV cuts through the air. Ever notice how NASCAR vehicles feature that polyethylene shield running behind the bumpers down to just inches from the pavement below? Shouldnt your motorhome or tow vehicle enjoy the same perks as those racecars? Seven years in the making, the Turbo Shield works to create a more streamlined condition for the front of your rig, bettering fuel consumption by 1 to 3.5 miles per gallon. It also improves the vehicles road manners" by cutting down on the constant tussling with the RV while wobbling about at high speeds. When high crosswinds prevail, you should not have to hold on to the steering wheel for dear life". A Turbo Shield incorporated into a motorhome (as original equipment or as a dealer installed option) helps create a ride that offers super road manners" with sports car-like handling. The Turbo Shield compliments all other aerodynamic features of a motorhome.
Turbo Shield announces they are offering a try before you buy" program at select dealerships throughout the United States. The program involves dealers installing a Turbo Shield on one of two identical stock vehicles. The customer does a test-drive comparison of the two vehicles. Typically, the driver will feel the difference within the first few miles behind the wheel. Once the vehicle is on the open road cruising at 25 miles per hour or more, the driver can flip a switch that deploys the Turbo Shield to within the factory specification of two inches above the pavement. Already in development for 2004 is an automatic option aimed at the rental market. At 25 miles per hour the unit will automatically deploy to the pre-engineered cruise position just two inches above the highway. At less than 25 miles per hour the unit will be retracted under the bumper and out of the way for entry into driveways and parking lots. Feel the difference. Turbo Shield makes driving fun again.
Turbo Shield is a charter member of GotAerodynamics.org, a newly formed association of companies that have united together to promote and integrate aerodynamic concepts into all highway vehicles.
