SOUTH AFRICAN REGGAE SUPERSTAR LUCKY DUBE SET TO APPEAR AT 11th INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF LIFE ON JULY 4TH INDEPENDENCE WEEKEND
CHICAGO, IL -- April 7, 2003 -- Ephraim Martin, president of Martin's Inter-Culture announced today the addition of South Africas leading reggae artist Lucky Dube to the headline (which will include some 70 renowned artist) of the 11th annual International Festival of Life to be held on July 3rd through 6th, 2003 at Chicagos Washington Park. Dube is scheduled to perform on July 5th.

Dube is scheduled to perform on July 5th.
Lucky Dube is the son of a single mother who thought she could not have children. Her first child therefore was given the name "Lucky". Dube (pronounced "Dobe") is a town area in Johannesburg. Influenced by artists like Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, Dube has recorded over 20 albums, his first two albums, Slave" (about alcoholism) and Prisoner", both sold over 500,000 copies and are the best selling disks ever in South Africa. Today Lucky Dube is one of worlds most sought after artists and tours the world over.
Over the last five years the IFOL event as attracted over 100,000 fans during its four day period, featuring artist such as: Maxi Priest, Shaggy, Third World, Marcia Griffiths, Calypso Rose, Gregory Isaacs and Jimmy Cliff to name a few of the musical icons that have graced the two stages of the International Festival Of Life.
The International Festival of Life (IFOL) is dedicated to the cultural, educational and spiritual uplifting of people of all nationalities. The festivals major objective is to bridge the cultural gap between all ethnic backgrounds. The IFOL showcases ethnic cultures specifically their music, arts, crafts, entertainment, fashions, food, and lifestyles from a global perspective. Most of all, it focuses attention on Life" what it means to us, our loved ones, the children of the universe, who deserve the best we can provide them. The IFOL includes a carnival pavilion for kids and young adults with (rides & games).
Created in 1993, the International Festival of Life is a division of Martins Inter-Culture, and the brainchild of Mr. Ephraim Martin, who is also the founder and organizer of the Chicago Music Awards and the International Reggae & World Music Awards both in their 22nd year.
