Public Sector Products, Inc. (PSP: http://pspgroup.com), a leader in Forensic Image Management and Biometric Security Solutions, today announced the release of their web service based Applicant Information Management System(AIMS). AIMS is designed to provide a platform-neutral management solution for forensic fingerprint, photo, and associated images used in a variety of applications including law enforcement, commercial applicant processing, and child safety programs. Management functions provided include integrating to existing Livescan, AFIS, and records management systems, storage, retrieval, and editing of data, submission and response tracking, and reporting.
According to Greg Flynn, President and CEO, "Given the inevitable increase in the number of agencies and companies deploying systems to capture employee fingerprints, or those of other groups of individuals requiring background checks, the need for management and integration solutions for these types of activities will see a proportional increase."
Designed as a web based solution accessible from any browser enabled Personal Computer or wireless device, AIMS can be deployed on an intranet, to be used by a single agency, or accessed via the Internet by one or more agencies, referred to as "clustering". This design allows scalability to address the needs of agencies of all sizes, from a Small Business that doesn't want the expense and overhead of a dedicated onsite system, to the largest of distributed Enterprises comprised of hundreds, or even thousands, of distributed locations.
AIMS accepts input from capture devices and records management systems through a variety of standard interfacing methods, primarily Simple Mail Transport Protocol(SMTP) email using file attachments. Because AIMS is 100% pure Java(tm), the hardware platform and software operating system is open to any system that supports a Java virtual machine, including personal, mini, and mainframe computers. PSP plans to distribute both software only solutions, and full, turnkey, hardware and software based solutions. According to Flynn, "We primarily base our solutions on Linux or Windows, however, we recognize that the end user may have their own requirements for deployment environments, and this is why we chose Java(tm), because of its support for many different operating environments."
In addition to managing the storage of records, AIMS' most unique capability is the ability to use images obtained from fingerprint capture systems to directly populate physical and logical access control systems, eliminating the need to capture images on multiple devices. This allows organizations performing background checks on employees to utilize the same images captured during the screening process in their access control system once the individual has been cleared.
"AIMS is a solution intended to address the increased need for Homeland Security.", says Flynn. "We want to provide a system that helps end users easily manage the complex requirements associated with the process of verifying an individuals background, giving them the ability to focus more on their business activities than on security concerns."
