STUDENT ATHLETES RECOGNIZED AS ALL-AMERICAN

Colorado Springs, CO --(April 8, 2003)-- The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recently recognized 151 student athletes with the All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year Award-recognizing the dedication of student athletes, both in and out of the weight room.

Strength coaches from 73 colleges and universities nominated athletes from 19 competitive sport categories. Each coach selected his or her top male and female athlete for this award based on their dedication to strength training and conditioning, athletic accomplishments, academic and personal achievements, community involvement, and leadership qualities.

Robert Jursnick, NSCAs Executive Director, says, The advantages of strength training and conditioning continue to gain recognition in the athletic realm. These fine young people attest to this understanding and are to be applauded for their perseverance and hard work."

Each recipient shares similar characteristics. They are committed, dedicated, have a desire to achieve, are role models to fellow athletes, and are shining examples of how their achievements have been enhanced through strength and conditioning. Throughout its 25-year history, the National Strength and Conditioning Association has sought to educate its members and increase respect for the strength and conditioning profession. The NSCA fulfills this goal by providing a wide variety of resources such as: exceptional professional journals; cutting edge conferences; scholarship and grant opportunities; educational text and videos; and career services to its 26,000 members.
