Woolf Associates Named a 2003 IABC Gold Quill Award Winner North Shore Spirit Sports Identity Project Earns Prestigious Design Communications Award

Woolf Associates, New Englands best known sports and event marketing agency, today announced it was named a winner of the 2003 International Gold Quill Award. The award, presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), comes in recognition of the sports identity project developed on behalf of the North Shore Spirit, an independent minor league baseball team based in Lynn, Massachusetts.

Boston, MA -- April 4, 2003 -- Woolf Associates, New Englands best known sports and event marketing agency, today announced it was named a winner of the 2003 International Gold Quill Award. The award, presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), comes in recognition of the sports identity project developed on behalf of the North Shore Spirit, an independent minor league baseball team based in Lynn, Massachusetts.

To be recognized for such a prestigious award is an honor and demonstrates our approach to sports identity development is world-class," Said Jack Birch, President and CEO of Woolf Associates. In addition to the teams primary logo, a series of secondary marks was developed for merchandise application and sponsorship sales presentations. This set of marks was also applied to in-stadium signage, team and staff uniforms, the teams corporate identity, as well as the actual playing surface at the NEW Fraser Field.

The North Shore Spirit deserves much of the credit for this award. Nick Lopardo and his executive team had a clear vision and the willingness to allow our team to produce winning results. Clients with that sort of focus and determination are perfect partners for our design process, Said Woolf Associates Chief Creative Officer, Thomas S. Duane, who creative-directed the project.

Woolfs work takes the field as the North Shore Spirit opens its inaugural season May 22, 2003, against Northeast league foe, the Brockton Rox. Game time is 7:11 p.m. at Brocktons Campanelli Stadium.
