Digital Media Arts College, Boca Raton, FL, Announces Master of Fine Arts Degree Programs in Special Effects Animation and Graphic Design

After receiving $2 million financing from The Golf Channel founder, DMAC expands from Bachelor of Fine Arts to Master of Fine Arts degree programs in Computer Animation and Graphic Design. These programs place DMAC squarely in the vanguard of Florida's digital arts.

Digital Media Arts College (DMAC), the newest and most technologically advanced college in Palm Beach County, Florida, announces the June 2003 inauguration of the Graduate School of Arts with two 60-credit, 1 ½ year Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree programs in Special Effects Animation and Graphic Design. DMAC already offers students accelerated three-year Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree programs, preparing graduates for rewarding careers in the rapidly expanding digital media areas in the entertainment, advertising, sports, multi-media, medical, architecture, design, and defense industries. Now, following licensure in January 2003 by the Florida Commission for Independent Education, the two new MFA programs place DMAC squarely in the vanguard of Floridas digital arts.

   Co-founders Cynthia Jakeway and Tony Palmieri lead a dedicated team of professionals who have distinguished themselves within academia and industry. Ms. Jakeway holds the MFA degree in computer animation and has authored and co-authored two other computer animation MFA programs in the U.S., including one of the largest regionally accredited undergraduate/graduate programs in 3D animation in the southeast. Mr. Palmieri holds the BS degree in chemical engineering. He served as a sales and business development executive in the high tech industry for nineteen years where he focused on technology initiatives in the education and entertainment markets. All members of DMACs faculty have attained the highest degrees achievable in their respective fields.

   DMAC President Jakeway notes that, Beginning in the Summer of 2003, our Graduate School of Arts expands DMACs superior academic and artistic education offering with the Master of Fine Arts program. With this program, we are fulfilling our vision to provide our students a compelling and creative environment both at the undergraduate and graduate levels."

   Funding for DMAC was arranged for and was provided by Gibbs Investments, LLC, an Orlando, Florida based venture capital firm. Gibbs Investments, LLC, is headed by Joseph E. Gibbs, who co-founded The Golf Channel with golf legend Arnold Palmer in 1991 and served as its CEO until the completion of its acquisition by Comcast Corporation in December 2001.
