Craig Durr, former VP of Marketing and Product Development for OneWest.net Internet Services, has recently announced plans to make shift in career fields to agency side marketing. Mr. Durr has recently relocated from Jackson Hole, WY to Austin, TX to pursue this endeavor. According to Mr. Durr, Austin was a perfect choice for his change in career directions due to the talented and technologically savvy advertising community that has developed in this region.

The Austin advertising community possesses a depth and breadth that is missing in most other markets. It is a natural extension of the artistic community of Austin in combination with the tech-oriented clients in its own backyard. It excites me to be around such strong talent."

Mr. Durr maintains his enthusiasm despite the current national economy and trends towards clients spending less on marketing efforts. Despite the negative effects of the current economy I am optimistic that opportunity is ever-present in Austin. I have seen some really creative work come out of Austin where agencies were asked to achieve more with less. By incorporating new media technologies such as email marketing, web presences, segmentation messaging and focused lead generation/data mining, agencies and their clients are finding success in getting their creative message to the right people. The creative elements are still able to blossom when someone is focusing equal or greater efforts on strategic marketing thinking."

And this is where Mr. Durr is planning on making his mark. I bring to the table a history of success in strategic planning and implementation, database management, relationship-oriented selling and experience in managing corporate communications and advertising efforts. It sounds silly because it is so simple. But, I think I can bring a fresh client side perspective to an ad agency that is trying to help a client get focused results out of their precious marketing dollars. But it is also a two way street. When many clients fall on harder times they tend to cut budget in the few areas that are designed to create business for them, sales and marketing. I am confident that I can also successfully relay the agency message about the need to advertise even in a tight market."

Despite all of this enthusiasm, Mr. Durr recognizes that wont be easy to find the right agency side opportunity. I know these folks are getting hit a hundred times over with resumes and emails. Plus, with each unique agency it may be a challenge to determine where I can best contribute to their overall success. I know the best way for me to relay my enthusiasm, skills and experience is to get into face-to-face discussions with the appropriate hiring manager in these agencies. Its amazing how much one can learn over a cup of coffee!

Mr. Durr closes by reiterating, I am strong in strategic planning and can provide high quality account management so my best entry may be in account services."

Mr. Durr is joined in his relocation by his wife, his 4-year-old daughter and his talented chocolate Labrador dog, Touli. In fact, it was the necessity to provide his family with more affordable living, quality lifestyle and sound education that prompted him to relocate from the expensive resort community of Jackson Hole, WY. They still maintain their residence in Jackson, though, and are ready to offer up ski trips as bribes in exchange for face-to-face interviews with the right people.

Mr. Durr can be reached by email at cdurr@fishcreekcompany.com or telephoned locally at 512-694-2230. He can also be seen frequently jogging around Town Lake with his brown dog with the blaze orange collar, enjoying what he hopes to be the fleeting moments of his current unemployment.
