Tokyo, Japan, April 10, 2003 -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE:6703) announced today that the company and IPL Datron Pty Ltd., an Australian-based company operating in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry, were today jointly presented with Certificates of Recognition by Senator Richard Alston, the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts in Australia for their contribution to the development of the Australian ICT industry.
Stead Denton, Managing Director of IPL Datron said "IPL Datron is pleased to have its efforts to grow its investment in and contribution to the development of the ICT sector in Australia recognized by the Australian government. At IPL Datron we are committed to achieving sustained growth and have shown that this can be achieved by vigorously pursuing export strategies with the support of a strategic partner."
Kenichi Shimamoto, General Manager of Oki's Australian Representative Office, said, "Oki is proud to be the recipient of a Certificate of Recognition along with IPL Datron with whom we have developed and maintained a long-term and successful partnership in Australia. This relationship has resulted in the local production of high-quality, internationally competitive, Australian-made products such as the RS232C serial interface card for printers, to integrate with Oki products in the world market."
Senator Alston congratulated IPL Datron and Oki Electric for their collaborative efforts for industry development and the contribution the companies had made to the development of the ICT sector in Australia since 1992. The Minister added that it was pleasing to note that a leading international corporation such as Oki was able to work in a close and mutually beneficial partnership with a smaller Australian-based ICT Supplier leading to sustained export success.
Having received recognition from the government, the two companies intend to maintain a good partnership for further contribution to the Australian ICT sector. Oki and IPL collaborate for marketing of various products and solutions including printers, facsimiles, VoIP (voice-over-Internet protocol) gateways, and Smart-MDF, an equipment that automates the wiring of Main Distribution Frames.
