     Jesus in Harry Potters shoes.

The demand for adventure and wizardry in fiction seems to have hoisted a big load upon writers nowadays. Especially on children and youth writers. It is pretty tough to argue when millions of kids are clamoring for what they consider as premium fare in books and movies.

New authors Jerry Y. Ching and Mike G. Onghai have taken this situation to mind and produced what you could call a Chrisitan version of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Their new book, The Greatest King, is replete with characters culled from childhood fantasies...a gargantuan troll-like character with incredible strength, an elfin character with a wizards touch, an outlandish "entertainer" for pudgy comic-relief and a young hero in search of something altogether world-changing and spiritually uplifting. Sounds familiar? Well, this could just about turn childrens heads long enough to learn about Jesus Christ. And thats probably the best thing about the book.

The Greatest King is wonderfully illustrated and written in an exciting, succinct style which makes it a fast read. It very ably carries a young reader to the swift conclusion of Christ as a real but humble hero. With a short highlight reel of His works and life, the book is a very useful companion for Christian teaching. It is a good takeoff point for parents struggling to focus their kidsattention on Jesus and what he represents in their lives.

For its commendable mission and beautiful effort, this is a Great book!

Ching is a Los Angeles-based animator who has worked on feature films like Casper, Mulan and Fantasia 2000.
Onghai is a magazine co-publisher in New York. They are the creators of e-card site cheerupcards.com.
