Finally, An Enhanced Media Feature That People Will Actually Want To Use

Confluent Technologies announced the release of a new, patent pending technology referred to as Universal Media Extension (UME, pronounced "You-Me") technology. UME technology was developed to address the media industry's ongoing piracy issues and to increase consumer desire to own physical media such as CDs and DVDs.

UME technology creates a direct communications channel between content providers, such as music labels and movie studios, and the people who enjoy listening to music and watching movies. Using the combination of the disc containing the media and an Internet connected computer, a person can receive related bonus content directly on their computer, for as long as they own the disc. The additional content can also be changed at anytime so content providers can keep their bonus media fresh well after the media has been manufatured.

"UME technology was designed to create a winning situation for both content consumers and content providers," Says Steven Dryall, President of Confluent Technologies.
UME technology does not require the installation of any software on the persons computer, nor does it require plug-ins or even a web browser to function. It does, however, require the physical media for access.

Steven Dryall emphasized this capability further by explaining that, "This technology was designed so it could be placed on every CD and DVD ever manufactured. The technology bypasses all of the undesireable elements of the World Wide Web while leveraging all of the benefits of the underlying technologies. This technology has the potential to dramatically change how people interact with the Internet," Confluent Technologies is in the process of negotiating licensing and commercial applications for UME technology with media and marketing companies Worldwide.

Confluent Technologies Inc., a privately held, Toronto based software company, has been building technology solutions for the media industry since 1999. Confluent Technologies has established a reputation for creating industry leading, media production tools with their critically acclaimed line of Fluition software products.
