US Prisoners Help Feed the Hungry in Iraq

In cooperation with World Peace Ambasssadors Foundation, prisoners in Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) facilities in Florence, Arizona have organized a donation drive for dry goods, food and health supplies to the people of Iraq.

Prisoners in Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) facilities in Florence, Arizona have organized a donation drive for dry goods, food and health supplies to the people of Iraq.

With the approval of the warden, Frank Luna, prisoners can buy items from the prison commissary (from an approved list) and donate them to World Peace Ambassadors Foundation (WPAF) for distribution in Iraq. These prisoners, most with little or no income or financial resources, are giving what they can to assist with aid to those who are urgently in need. WPAF will collect and ship all donated items from the Arizona prison to partner humanitarian aid groups in Iraq.

WPAF will combine the donations with those of others prior to shipping the dry goods to Iraq. A special mission has been started by WPAF on its web site at www.wpaf.net/special_mission.htm to augment the prisoners efforts by matching them with other donations received.

Ron Multanen, a 19-year prisoner of the State of Alaska interred in the Florence CCA facility, organized the food drive along with fellow inmate, Chris Dale.

We wanted to show people outside the prison that we care too," said Multanen. Although we dont have a lot to give, we know that we can make a difference for someone living without food or clean water."

We are very excited about helping these men donate to the people of Iraq," said Ryan Malane, CEO of WPAF. Weve been very impressed the how enthusiastic these prisoners are and how much effort they are putting into the project."
