Focusing On An Ancient Art
Not being able to work full time and overwhelming medical bills, this cancer survivor
started to show the beauty of Millefiori Jewelry on a website. Though only a few months old, Pendalini Corporation is growing faster every day and has already expanded its Millefiori line to include sterling silver and other fine jewelry. See for yourself at www.pendalini.com
Pendalini Corporation is a young company that started just months ago.
In search for something to keep her mind off cancer treatment, the founder, Wilma Castillo, found that selling Murano Glass Jewelry on the internet was right up her alley.
The 52-year-old was devastated when told last May that she had Inflammatory Breast Cancer, which is a rare and aggressive type. Turning my attention to the beauty of Millefiori helped me cope with the Chemo, Surgery and Radiation", she says. Wilma is finished with her treatment and thankful she has a good prognosis and established her own business, which not only sells Millefiori Jewelry, but has other Sterling Silver jewelry as well.
Murano Glass jewelry is made from glass rods of different shapes and sizes. Segments of these rods, know as Millefiori,( meaning a thousand flowers), are fused to make tiny mosaics that create these one-of-a-kind works of art. The art has roots from Ancient Roman, Alexandrian and Phoenician glassware, which was rediscovered during the Middle Ages. These exquisite pieces are made in the worlds most famous city for glassmaking: Venice.
Prices start at $12 for the Millefiori and each item comes with a pamphlet, which gives a description of how the pieces are created. The website address is www.pendalini.com
