New York Times columnist Paul Krugmans March 25 column reported the frightening information that radio stations owned by Clear Channel Communications were promoting pro-America rallies in cities across the country.
Can our republic survive?
Once again, Mr Krugman like so many of his socialist/liberal colleagues hints of a capitalist conspiracy because of Clear Channels involvement. (Krugmans column was not even original. Tim Jones of the Chicago Tribune is the one who developed this absurdity.)
I attended a pro-America rally last Saturday in Center City Philadelphia. One of the speakers was a host of talk show on a local radio station. The radio station is owned by Clear Channel. The host, Jeff Katz, promoted the rally the day before on his show.
Now I am certain Mr. Krugman would allege a corporate plot" about this rally. Let me reassure him that Clear Channel had nothing to do with it. As a matter of fact, there is still several hundred dollars that are owed the City of Philadelphia for the stage and sound system. My twenty-two year old son, who organized the rally, is responsible for the debt. (By the way Mr. Krugman, you being the wealthy Times columnists you are, might want to send him a couple of bucks to defray the costs. My son actually has to choose between paying the rent this month, and paying for the rally).
It is interesting, even comical, how Paul Krugman portrays pro-America rallies as a capitalist conspiracy. Krugman must see a capitalist behind every tree. He must see capitalists in his bedroom at night after he turns off the lights. Capitalists are in Krugmans breakfast cereal in the morning. They follow Krugman everywhere. I bet he has even a safe room in his house to go to when the capitalists take control of the government so Krugman can begin his peoples revolution."
In Krugmans world patriotism is the equivalent of jingoism. In Krugmans world, the flag represents imperialism. In Krugmans world, the chant USA, USA," is the same as Deutschland, Deutschland." Indeed, Krugman equated the destruction of a Country & Western group's CDs (the lead singer insulted President Bush) at a Louisiana pro-America rally with Nazi book burning.
Krugman probably is one of those Woodstock alumni that slept with the candles in the rain a bit too long, toked a bit too much, and freaked out during Carlos Santanas Soul Sacrifice. Krugman probably mourned the SLAs Los Angeles demise. Krugman probably predicted Reagan Pershing missiles, for sure, were going to start WWIII. Krugman probably felt that the Sandinistas were going to convert Nicaragua into socialist Utopia. Krugman probably believed that the Persian Gulf War was a capitalist plot to annex Kuwaiti. Krugman probably thinks that 911 was a CIA plot.
When NBC News with Tom Brokaw reported this Clear Channel Corporate Conspiracy pro-America rally" theory April 14, they mentioned the days when radio stations use to be favored for their anti-American message (This in itself is a clear sign that they are all dinosaurs there. I can just imagine the NBC News staff and Tom Brokaw in the Senior Center singing Kumbaya). NBC news then cited listener supported" Pacifica Radio as the paragon journalistic integrity.
Of course NBC News did not happen to mention, nor does Paul Krugman (or Tim Jones) seem concerned with the fact that one member of the Pacifica Foundation Board of Directors is Leslie Cagan who leads an anti-war coalition. Pacifica Foundation controls key radio stations in America like WBAI in New York and KPFA in California. One source told me that Pacifica might even receive limited government funding as well.
The Pacifica Foundation finances such fine programs as Amy Goodman's Democracy Now and other commie propaganda. So one whole pro-Iraqi peaceniks is linked to a foundation with radio outlets in New York, Washington, and San Francisco.
Krugman has not reported the links between the Not In Our Name peace" coalition, Muslim terrorist groups, and narco-terrorists. Nor has he reported the link between International ANSWER and the Stalinist loving Kim Jung Il worshiping, Workers World Party. Krugman has not reported the fuck America" comments, the burning of the flag and the president in effigy, the destruction of property, the harassment of military personnel, all by peace" protesters. No outrage by Krugman of these things.
One might ask why that is? Why the double standard? Why is it that Paul Krugman thinks it appropriate for terrorist related, totalitarian idolizing groups to sponsor anti-American protests, and yet he finds it a threat to American civilization for a radio station to sponsor patriotic rallies.
The reason is that in the world according to Krugman, the terrorist and communist affiliations of Not in Our Name and ANSWER do not only not represent a conspiracy, such affiliations are preferred.
