HOUSTON, April 21 -- The Stock Trader News attracted record "hits" at its website at www.stocktradernews.com last week from visitors curious about the content of the independent online journal of news and views of stocks, companies, opportunities and issues.
The usual block of non-subscribers to the full content of the publication was temporarily lifted, due to some technical changes in the mechanics of the subscription-based journal, according to Jack Burney, Editor in Chief.
"The free ride will end as soon as we have made the necessary adjustments," Burney said. "Meanwhile, we're glad prospective subscribers can get a free tour of the site. Actually, subscriptions are only $5 a week, but everybody loves free stuff."
This week's issue is again packed with news and features of interest to investors and traders:
In the Latest News section, learn why, although the nation's largest hospital operator has warned that its first-quarter earnings will fall far below expectations, citing a mild flu season and the closure of several units, analysts still say "buy!"
In the How To Invest segment, STN observes that, with the uncertainty in the US stock market these days, investors are looking to foreign stocks. The Mexican version of a well known US retail organization is a big winner, but STN tells you how to buy.
In Jack's Journal, learn about a startling development that could send the economy and the stock market rocketing higher, vastly improving the way we pay taxes. But you wouldn't know it from the inexplicable lack of coverage by the conventional press.
In the Feature Story segment, STN reports that the Depository Trust and Clearing Corp. took it on the chin last week. It controls $17 trillion in its electronic stock system, but it can't control the exodus of small cap companies deserting it for certificate-only trading.
On the Prediction Page, An NYSE-traded casino operator has installed "ticket-in, ticket-out" slot technology at Las Vegas casino resorts Paris and Bally's. They'll soon be the first Vegas Strip properties to fully adopt the new system, says the firm.
STN's Star Stocks Financial Astrologer Ray Merriman says that three planets make ingress into new signs this week, which implies that investor sentiment is about to change. What was important to investors before this week is not so important now.
