FESTIVAL TO SCREEN STUDENT FILMS AND VIDEOS
Third annual South Bay Student Video Festival will be May 28th, 2003 at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach. Come see talented high school video artists display their best work and mingle with members of the South Bay community.
Excitement stirs the Mira Costa student body as the Cinema Club launches its third annual South Bay Student Video Festival on May 28th, 2003. The Thursday evening event will showcase exceptional videos and films produced by Mira Costa students and students from around Southern California.
"The focus of the festival is to provide a venue for high school students to share their work and start a dialogue with their peers," said MCHS Video teacher Michael Hernandez. He said events like the Festival help to "give exposure to burgeoning artists and let the community experience the great work that's being produced in their own neighborhood."
Videos will be judged by a panel of entertainment industry and community members in categories such as fiction, non-fiction, experimental and animation. Winners from each category will receive prizes and recognition at the screening.
"This years festival will be the best one yet," said Mira Costa Cinema Club President Stefanie Allmon. "There are so many artistically gifted students creating amazing projects. I really look forward to sharing the their talents with the SoCal community."
The 7 p.m. screening will be held in the Mira Costa High School Auditorium at 701 S. Peck Ave. in Manhattan Beach. Admission is $2 for students and $5 for adults. Proceeds support the MCHS Cinema Club. For more information, call (310) 318-7337 x5146.
