In the small town of Cecilia, Louisiana, Sweet Lavender is a story of a young girls journey through life after her beloved father walked out on her at the age of five, leaving her mother to raise his love child. As she got older, the only place that Rae Lynne could find peace was in the sweet lavender patch near her house.

One muggy, rainy night in 1964, Raymond Jonston walks in the door of his home bringing to Rae Lynne and her mother Angie, a brand new baby boy that he created in an adulterous relationship with the mother who died while giving birth. Then, for a moment, life pauses as Raymond walks away from his chaos, leaving behind his wife, daughter, and baby boy.

Rae Lynne walks us through this twelve year journey of lifes bitter sweet realities in Sweet Lavender. On this path, Rae Lynne searches for a means to attain balance in her life without her father through close relationships with family and friends, but finds that there is hindrance at every turn.

Throughout the story, Rae Lynne visits the sweet lavender field in her backyard-known to her as the healing ground" because of its special herb that attains the power to heal the body, soul, and the mind.

When unexpectedly Angie gets deathly ill, Rae Lynne began to question the saga behind the phenomenal powers of sweet lavender that her mother had etched into her head since she was a young child. Could the one thing that offers her salvation be the very thing that tears her world apart?
