DAT Optic Inc., a renowned developer and manufacturer of Optical storage and CD/DVD duplication products, today introduces the newest addition to their innovative line of Speedzter - a non-ac adapter portable 2.5 HDD enclosure. The new portable Speedzter2 enclosure can convert any 2.5-inch HDD (notebook) to a portable external drive, allowing this external drive to operate anywhere without the need of ANY AC ADAPTER. Imagine the possibilities!

This particular Speedzter2 enclosure has all the conveniences and specifications of the older model, but without all the fuss. This 2.5 in. HDD enclosure offers something unprecedented; it allows the 2.5 in. (notebook) portable hard drive to operate without an AC adapter for all laptops and notebooks.

It is a hot swap-able, hot plug-able external enclosure supporting Windows98SE, ME, 2K, XP, Linux, FreeBSD and MAC OS 9.x or higher computers.

This innovation is made possible by a newly designed cable (patent pending), designed and manufactured exclusively by DAT Optic Inc., which allows the hard drive to operate without an AC adapter for all desktops, laptops and notebooks.

FireWire and USB connectivity:
Our Speedzter2 internal circuitry provides a full IEEE 1394 compliant link layer, while integrating the 1394 physical interface (PHY) and the USB bridge provide an EHCI based USB 1.1 compliant solution, both of which will connect with ATA interface. With these specifications, Speedster2 is compatible with most laptops or notebooks on the market today.
