A NIGHT WITH THE KING" Fundraiser Dinner and Elvis Karaoke Contest

Elvis-Themed fundraiser to raise finishing funds for the documentary, "The Faithful." Saturday, May 3rd, 7:30PM at the Greek American Club CENTRAL SQUARE, Cambridge. Performance, Dinner, Karaoke Contest, Auction, and more!

Cambridge, MA -- Fish in the Hand Productions, in association with the Center for Independent Documentary (CID), announces an Elvis-themed fundraiser dinner and Karaoke night on Saturday, May 3, 2003 featuring the highly acclaimed Elvis Impersonator, Robert Washington.

The event, scheduled at the Greek American Club, Central Square, Cambridge, is a fundraiser for the film The Faithful, a new documentary exploring the most significant cultural icons of our time -- Elvis Presley, Pope John Paul II, and Princess Diana. This evening of all things Elvis" includes door prizes, an Elvis memorabilia raffle, a silent auction of one-of-a-kind Elvis art collectibles, a feast of the Kings favorite foods (Fried Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwiches and more), plus a sneak preview of The Faithful. Participants in the King's Karaoke Contest" will compete for the chance to win a cameo appearance in the documentary.

The Award-winning, Robert Washington has been impersonating Elvis for the past 20 years. He consistently finishes in the top three in the Images of Elvis" competition held annually in Memphis, TN. He is known for his high-energy act that often includes flips onto the stage and even somersaults. Washington was featured in the film Almost Elvis and will also appear in The Faithful.

The Faithful, produced by Annie Berman and Sara Theriault, is a study of the sociological and psychological forces that propel fans and followers of Elvis, the Pope and Princess Diana. The memorabilia that these followers collect takes on new meaning extending far beyond the symbols that these great cultural icons represent. Her credits include the short films I Wear a Tie to Work" and You Cant Evict the Sprit." With over 4 years experience in documentary television production, Sara Theriaults credits include numerous programs for The History Channel and Discovery Channel including The Big Dig.

The Center for Independent Documentary is a non-profit organization that collaborates with local filmmakers to provide fiscal sponsorship and creative and moral support in order to encourage new, young talent. CID programs are broadcast locally and nationally on public and cable TV. Their sponsored documentaries, which have won numerous awards, are in nationwide distribution in educational markets. Dinner Performance begins at 7:30 PM followed by entertainment at 9:00 PM. Tickets range from $10-$45. The event takes place on Saturday, May 3, 2003 at the Greek American Club, 288 Green Street, Central Square, Cambridge.
