New Technical Rescue Modules Revolutionize Emergency Response Capabilities

Spear Trucks custom designs equipment storage modules for technical rescue, emergency action and other response situations. Traditional storage has been trailers or high cost cab-and-chassis units where the expense has kept fire departments and other emergency responders from having specialized, quick response equipment storage areas. These specialized container 'pods' may be custom outfitted, and load/unload from a truck in less than 3 minutes.

Until now, agencies have typically been forced to respond to technical rescue situations with one truck or trailer into which they've put 'a little of everything.' Now, for the first time ever, agencies can afford to have a number of low cost, specialized modules, each of which is custom-designed to contain exactly what's needed, stored where it's efficient to use, for any particular type of situation.

Each sturdy Spear steel pod measures 22' long by 7.5' high and wide, is waterproof, and may be custom-designed in terms of total layout and contents. Spear Truck pods may be outfitted with heat, A/C, water, oxygen stations, etc., and multiple modules may even be linked to provide larger units that are ideal for extended command centers, kitchens, sleeping quarters or any other use desired by the client.

They may be designed to hold Gators, pickup trucks, boats, air compressors, generators, welders, oxygen tanks -- the only limiting factor is fitting within the container's road-legal width and height. This makes Spear modules ideal for virtually any types of specialized emergency response situations, including chemical spills, tunnel collapse, confined space, trench rescue, rope rescue, biological agent response and much more.

The stackable modules may be shipped 4 to a train flatcar, or 2 per semi-trailer, and are designed to be lifted via forklift from either the top or bottom. They even fit into C130 transport planes for immediate transit worldwide. The pods are completely waterproof, allowing them to be stored outside in all types of weather, and vents are provided to let heat escape in hot weather.

Many different chassis types can be used for transporting Spear Truck's specialized modules. Often, the truck type may be matched to those already in a customer's fleet. An existing truck in the fleet may even be used -- all it takes is being outfitted with the Spear load/offload system. This unique hydraulic hook-and-arm system allows any pod to be loaded or unloaded from the chassis in less than 5 minutes, providing enhanced response time no matter what the emergency. Once at the jobsite, the specialized module may be either left on the truck or offloaded to free up the truck for additional usage.

Either way, crews have exactly what they need onsite, and it's not mixed in with other types of non-useful equipment. Because of the significantly lower cost requirements over traditional dedicated cab and trailer response vehicles, agencies gain many other advantages.
