Nocturnal Development has released Destruction II v1.00, a Windows 9x/NT/2k/XP twoplayer retro action game which gives you a taste of the great gameplay from the Amiga era.
Destruction II is a two player game in which you fight against a friend and computer enemies at the same time. You sit side by side with a friend in front of the same computer and look at half of the screen each. The battle takes place in a mazelike world filled with valuable items and powerups. While fighting, you can earn money by destroying enemies or collecting items and after each battle you get to buy weapons, armor, explosives andspecial attacks. This way, your player grows more and more powerful, can take on tougher enemies and at the same time you can fight your friend more efficiently.
While many games of today focuses on cool graphic effects, Destruction II focuses on gameplay. It is inspired by the old Amiga games when gameplay was the number one priority and you didn't grow bored of the games after two days. Randomized worlds and loads of different enemies, settings, weapons, explosives, special attack weapons, powerups and other items guarantees that the game will stay interesting and challenging for a long time.
The battlefield consists of a mazelike structure of walls plus two bases, one which belongs to you and one which belongs to your friend. All walls except your base walls can be knocked down by either explosives or a great deal of bullets. While fighting, you can focus on either destroying tanks, droids and other enemies to get big cash rewards or you or you could try to defeat your friend or focus on collecting items spread through out the world. The first player who loses all of his lives looses the battle and the survivor receives one point. In the basic one-on-one game mode, the first player to reach a certain number of points wins the game but tournaments and cups are also available with up to 16 players.
The game will run under any Windows 9x/NT system and is designed to run on low end computers but a 200Mhz processor, sound card and 8mb video ram is recommended.
A demo version of Destruction II is available at Nocturnal Development's home page at http://www.destruction.nu. The price for the full version is only $9.95.
