Zephyr Corporation Creates Attachmate Macro Conversion Tool

Zephyr has created an Attachmate Macro Conversion Tool that automatically converts the proprietary Attachmate EXTRA! macros into standard VBscript or Visual Basic, easing the transition from Attachmate EXTRA! to PASSPORT.

A mid-sized to large Attachmate customer can easily have hundreds of proprietary macros in use throughout their organization. Given that the macros typically increase the productivity of the user, they represent value for their owner, which can be an obstacle when trying to replace EXTRA! with another emulator or even upgrading to a newer version of EXTRA!.

To ease the transition from Attachmate EXTRA! to PASSPORT, Zephyr created an Attachmate Macro Conversion Tool that automatically converts the proprietary Attachmate macros, developed using EXTRA! Objects, into standard macros for use with PASSPORT. The macros can be converted into PASSPORT VBscript macros or standard Visual Basic for more complex macros.

The tool proved most helpful in 2002 when Zephyr migrated a record number of clients from EXTRA! to PASSPORT. As an example, one large insurance company that migrated from Attachmate to PASSPORT, sent more than 1,000 macros to Zephyr for conversion during the first six months following their PASSPORT purchase. Hundreds of Attachmate macros can now be collected, converted and delivered to Zephyr clients in a manner of days.

The Attachmate EXTRA! Macro Conversion Tool is not sold, but is offered as a free service for Zephyr clients with 500 or more licensed units under an annual Subscription License Plan (SLP) or a Priority Maintenance Plan.
