Logic Communications Increases Revenues Through Billing with Portal Software
Portal Software Supports Fast Launch of Data And Voice Services for Bermuda- Based
Communications Provider
CUPERTINO, CA (PRWEB) April 26, 2003 - Portal Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRSF) today announced that it is providing Logic Communications (www.logic.bm) with full billing support for dial-up and broadband data services, pre-paid calling cards, and long-distance voice services. Portals billing and subscriber management solution has enabled Bermuda-based Logic to be the first to market with virtually every new telecommunications service offering in Bermuda. Leveraging Portals billing solution to rapidly launch new services and enhance existing services, greatly increasing customer satisfaction,
Logic has been able to affect a complete financial turnaround.
The Portal solution allowed Logic to enter a very competitive long distance voice market with a flexible billing system that promoted the usage of unique pricing plans and supported the continual launch of reliable services," said Jeff Hamill, Chief Executive Officer, Logic Communications. Being the first to market with a high-performing, lower-cost alternative to that offered by traditional voice carriers was a key success variable in our business strategy and our financial performance. Portal has helped Logic easily respond to new market dynamics and reduce our operational expenses by providing a single billing platform with the flexibility to support both our retail and wholesale offerings."
Logic Communications initially selected Portal to support dial-up Internet services but quickly began using Portal to support the deployment of other new communication services. When the Bermuda telecommunications market deregulated in 2000, Logic was able to quickly bring long-distance services to market using Portals billing solution. After only 15 days of development, Logic was up and running with new services and effectively competing against the two incumbent carriers. The short time to fully launch voice and other new services played a significant role in Logics financial turnaround.
With Portals billing solution, Logic replaced an inflexible, legacy-billing infrastructure that was not able to scale or support the introduction of new value-added services to the market. Portal's billing platform powers the billing and rating for all of Logics residential and commercial telecommunications services including broadband data services, pre-paid calling cards and international long-distance voice services. Each Logic service offering was integrated with the Portal billing system and deployed in only three to four weeks resulting in quick new revenue streams for the carrier and an increase in customer satisfaction.
Deregulation is creating opportunities for smaller, more nimble, companies to enter regional markets and take market share from large incumbents," said Chris Grejtak, senior vice president, marketing, Portal Software, Inc. Portals flexible product-centric approach for billing solutions is ideal for smaller companies like Logic that cannot afford to implement cumbersome, custom built billing systems. Portals focus on reducing total cost of ownership for our customers has allowed Logic to realize a fast return on its investment and has enabled them to create increased value for their customers."
Using Portal, Logic most recently deployed a direct-dial long-distance service, including support for real-time rating of both traditional circuit-switched and VoIP voice records. Logic has also taken advantage of the Portal billing solution's ability to provide multiple pricing models and the carrier offers its customers flexible prepaid and postpaid pricing models for all Internet and long distance voice-related services. Additionally, real-time rating has allowed Logic to introduce bundled service billing plans as well as tiered-rating pricing models.
