Beyond Guns, Gates, and Guards: Risk Assessment for Transportation Assets (May 15, 3:30pm-5pm).
Session Description:
A recent study by the Council on Competitiveness shows that few companies are spending more money on security than they did a year ago. There are several reasons why. Some businesses have not taken a more aggressive approach to protecting themselves, their people, and their facilities because of cost. Others are unsure what actionable items they can take beyond the security systems they already have in place. One of the main reasons may be, however, that companies are unsure of their risks today and what they can do to mitigate them. Proper risk assessment for todays threat has been lacking up until this point, and until such risk assessments can be completed, transportation agencies and businesses will be unable to put in place the tools needed to deal with the threat. This session will examine that need and the questions that need to be answered to develop effective risk assessment for transportation assets."
Michael Skellern, CEO of Universal Guardian, commented, Our Companys business is to provide security technologies, products, and services on a global basis. This Summit creates a forum for companies like Universal to discuss current concerns. I look forward to the opportunity of discussing critical security issues with my industry peers based on my experience."
