MTV Says No. BlogTV says Yes.

Have your BlogTV, while turning your TV off during the National TV Turnoff Week. BlogTV.com wants you to "Document your Life" by starting your own personalized blog channel with no programming skills required.

NASHVILLE, TN (PR WEB) Sunday, April 27, 2003 wraps up the national TV Turnoff Week" campaign. The event is being promoted by adbusters.org, a media foundation based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

MTV, the hip music channel, declined to carry any advertisement for the campaign. CNN did choose to air the spot on their Headline News program which aired Sunday, April 20, 2003.

BlogTV.com, an online service provider offering anyone with Internet access their own online channel" to blog, is encouraging television viewers to do just that-turn the TV off and read a blog on Sunday night. A blog, the Internet term for weblogging, is the ability to post editorials, online diaries, and other forms of self-publishing as easy as it is to use email.

No programming or previous blog experience is required to start a BlogTV channel," explains Austin Chase, President and Founder of BlogTV.com.

"Not everyone can be on Bill OReilly. Not everyone can call in and get through to Larry King Live during the short call in period. However, anyone with Internet access can be on BlogTV," says Mr. Chase.

Interestingly, the BlogTV slogan is Annoy the Media. Blog."

Austin Chase points out that thehomelessguy.net is a weblog of a homeless person that blogs from a Nashville, Tennessee library and whose online experience has been documented by the Associated Press as tangible evidence that virtually anyone can indeed blog.

BlogTV offers personalized channels ranging from yourname.blogamerica.com to yourname.blogsports.com. Mr. Chase emphasizes, There is a channel for everyone. BlogTV is publishing with personality. Express yourself without the hassle of trying to find a domain name that reflects what you are passionate about-without the registration costs and privacy risks."

What sets BlogTV apart from all other existing services is that there really is no way for a potential reader to ascertain whether or not a blog is of interest to them. However, within BlogTVs unique network anyone can easily determine the general subject matter of madonna.blogmusic.com or dixiechicks.blogpolitics.com."

BlogTV will begin offering Internet users the opportunity to reserve their personalized channel beginning Monday, May 5, 2003. The BlogTV service is expected to launch in late May at which point all reservations will be activated. Those users will then be able to logon to their live" BlogTV account and utilize any blogging software of their choice in addition to BlogTVs custom blogware application in order to create a personalized blog exclusively on BlogTV.
