SARS LIMITING NURSING HOME RESIDENTS CLOTHING OPTIONS
Nursing home residents in Canada are having trouble receiving services due to worries about SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome).
Nursing home residents in Canada are facing painful choices as some facilities restrict all visitors or keep visitors to a minimum. Silverts Clothing for Seniors is currently having difficulty accessing long term care facilities to provide special needs clothing to the elderly and disabled, due to worries about SARS.
Without special adaptive clothing such as open back nightgowns, getting dressed can become incredibly painful and difficult for elderly patients with disabilities.
The situation is serious:
· Residents at several nursing homes in Ontario have been unable to be served by Silverts mobile stores
· New residents at some nursing homes have been unable to be assessed for special needs clothing
· Without service soon, some elderly residents may be forced into attempting to wear conventional clothing
· Attempting to dress elderly patients with disabilities in conventional clothing places even more stress on an already stretched nursing staff
· Silverts is compliant with all MOH directives
· Silverts has had no cases of SARS, and no-one quarantined in the company
Silvert's toll-free order desk and www.silverts.com continues to be available for those requiring special needs clothing by mail order.
