Sky King's book Burgoyne's Gold tells the story of the murder of Tom Simpson, a historian on the trail of a colonial era treasure: seventy thousand gold guineas taken from the British army at the Battle of Saratoga in 1777. Tom leaves behind his friends Arletta Cole and Sam Healy to solve both mysteries. They face the contentious and ancestor-proud members of the local historical society, a manipulative State Police Captain, a missing detective hired by Tom Simpson, a cult of animal sacrifice and the complications of their own budding romance.
Burgoyne's Gold is written by a long time resident of the hills of New England around the General Knox Trail. It's still a mystery how Johnny Burgoyne and George Washington could have slept at so many different inns. The novel contains modern snippets of a rich and still lively history mixed with a mystery that is solved in a satisfying and surprising way.
This book is written for adults who like mystery, history and romantic comedy. The mystery is challenging, the history factual and you'll just have to find out who dun it.
Sky King has published short stories in small literary magazines and has received honorable mention in the Reader's Digest Writers Contest. Burgoyne's Gold is his first published novel.
