Author Randy Jernigan Shares His Mormon Faith In "Lessons From Gethsemane"
Celebrity journalist and fiction author Randy Jernigan shares his christian faith in his new book "Lessons From Gethsemane"
Fiction author and celebrity journalist Randy Jernigan steps forward to share his Mormon faith with his readers in his new book "Lessons From Gethsemane" due on book shelves this Fall.
"I'm at a point in my life's journey where I want to share my beliefs," explained Jernigan, in a telephone interview from his Utah home. "That's why I decided to do this book. It's much different that anything I've ever written before and I was a little concerned about expressing myself and my beliefs in a way that would help someone, but when I sat down and started to put my thoughts down on paper, it became quite the spiritual journey for me." said Jernigan.
A convert to the Mormon Church at the age of 18, Jernigan reveals that it's his faith in God and the principles of his church that has pulled him through some rough times. "I've had a constant battle with poor health this last year," said Jernigan. "Diabetes, high blood presure, and just recently my doctor tested me for multiple sclerosis, which, thank heavens, came back negative, and it was my beliefs that God loves me and has a plan for me that pulled me through." said Jernigan.
A celebrity journalist, covering the rich and famous in Hollywood, Jernigan's reputation usually preceeds him. "I think a lot of these hollywood types trust me with their personal lives because most of them are aware of my standards--they know I won't stoop to gossip," says Jernigan.
"And he's interviewed some of the biggest names in the business," says New York writer and personal friend, Holly Millea. "Britney Spears, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, they all know him and what he stands for--Randy's like everybody's big brother and they don't mind telling him their secrets." says Millea.
In Lessons From Gethsemane, Jernigan writes about his testimony of the atoning sacrifice of the Jesus Christ and his mission. "My hope for this book is that it will lend hope and comfort to those who need it," explains Jernigan. "I'm no theologian or scriptorian, but I do have a testimony of the Savior and thats what Lessons From Gethsemane is all about."
Lessons From Gethsemane will be available this Fall through Imprint Books Inc.
