Direct Force Media PR Grabs the 24K Gold Ring in Atlanta
DFM PR President Lisa Torch announces Specialty PR for Small Businesses and Designers
Lisa Torch is working harder than ever, and loving it. The thirty-something whirlwind exudes confidence and creative energy as she juggles a cavalcade of phone calls, emails and press kits.
"People ask me, "how did you get into the PR business"?, and I just sort of point up to the sky", she laughs. "I was a consultant in the finance world up until two years ago, so God only knows. But I'm not complaining. I love the energy of this business".
Lisa is the President of Direct Force Media, a Public Relations firm headquartered in Sandy Springs, GA. She represents clients primarily in what she calls "the lifestyle businesses"...jewelry, fashion, accessories, entertainment, art, health and fitness, and a select group of nonprofit organizations. Due to her diligence and commitment to excellence, her clients have been featured in national, regional and trade magazines and have gained recognition far and above what they could have accomplished with advertising alone.
Torch got started in the PR business by helping out a good friend and colleague in New York who was booked 24/7 with business. "I started small, just pitching jewelry designers to a few regional magazines. Then it started to snowball." She enjoyed the work so much, and was so successful, that she started signing her own clients. "We've had clients featured in W, Vogue, Town & Country, Elle, The Robb Report...you name it. It's very exciting when you get a hit." She is now thinking about hiring an assistant of her own so she can devote more time to serving her clients rather than doing "paperwork and research - necessary but time-consuming!"
Now, Lisa has a new goal - to educate small businesses about the benefits of PR. "My motto -Everyone can benefit from good publicity- is really true - careers are made and broken by the press. Small businesses, designers and entrepreneurs either don't have time to do it themselves, or they lack the contacts. For them, we're offering a three-month "Intro to PR" at a price that's fairly undaunting", she explained. Well write an introductory press release for the client and distribute it through the newswires. And then well hit the phones and introduce them to every major publication in their target market for three months. Its a great start toward getting the publicity machine in motion -- and it will continue to reap rewards for months afterward".
