First African-American Owned Microtel Inn & Suites to open in Atlanta Suburb.
Microtel Inn and Suites, Lithonia Georgia broke ground on April 18, 2003 and is scheduled to open in December of this year. This will mark the first African-American owned hotel in DeKalb County, Georgia, the most affluent African-American Community in the United States. This will also mark the first hotel owned by African-Americans in the Microtel flagship. There are currently 256 Microtel Inns and Suites open or under development.

Microtel Inn & Suites in Lithonia, GA Breaks Ground
The Microtel Inn & Suites, Lithonia, Georgia scheduled to open December 2003 had its groundbreaking ceremony on April 18 on the property site at 2980 Evans Mill Road in Lithonia, GA. The owners are Rick Branch, Vance Harper, Michael Patterson and Wayne Harris.
The opening marks the first and only African-American owned hotel in DeKalbs History. The Lithonia property is also the first African-American owned hotel in the Microtel flagship. There are currently 256 Microtels open or in development across the country.
The property is located in close proximity to New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, The Mall at Stonecrest and Arabia Mountain Park. The hotel expects to attract visitors from these three areas as well as host family reunions and meetings. The property is central to three major tourist draws. We couldnt be happier with the way the area is developing around our site," says Branch. The property will feature 62 sleeping rooms and a large meeting room that will accommodate 25 people. We welcome community organizations to have meetings and events on site."
Construction of the Lithonia facility is scheduled to begin immediately. Unlike typical small hotels, the Lithonia Microtel will be of brick construction with a portico, handsome landscaping and a well-lit parking lot.
