On May 16th a new and imaginative book of poetry will be release. Traces of My Emotion is a collection of works by African American writer, Nathaniel Brunson.

Traces of My Emotion is sixty-two poems that express the inner workings of a young man trying to find his way in the world gone mad. Brunson was separated from his mother at a very young age and the lack of male guidance led to issues of sexual ambiguity and a series of violently failed romances. Brunsons poetic content is not limited to the human heart. In his writings, Brunson touches on a wide range of topics in his search for the peace of the inner self. Each poem is a direct reflection of the dark and occasionally funny twists and turns life takes to get from one point to another.

Without the overuse of slang vocabulary and monotonous imagery and metaphors, Brunsons style is entirely of its own. As a member of Generation X, I wanted to step out and bring a flavor that has yet to be done. Instead of sitting down and writing my poems with a thesaurus, I wanted to give a natural and creative approach. I wrote from the heart."

Although the content may be controversial at times, Traces of My Emotion reveals the plight of someone who dared to strip himself down to the naked truth and face the realty of his being. Traces of My Emotion screams the message of being free to search for who you are and loving who you find.
