MIKE BROSNAN: ROOTSY ACOUSTIC ROCK

EUROPEAN-BASED NZ SINGER/SONGWRITER/GUITARIST TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM IN NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand singer-songwriter-guitarist and acoustic music troubadour Mike Brosnan will release his new CD throughout New Zealand on Monday 30 June 2003. This album, originally released in Europe on the German label Flying Kiwi Records at the beginning of April 2003, will be released in NZ on Global Routes Records, Flying Kiwis president Henriette Guth announced today.

Wasted Time" was recorded in both New Zealand and Germany, and features thirteen original Brosnan compositions. It the short time it has been on the European market, Wasted Time" has already received considerable critical acclaim.

Im really excited about this release," Brosnan said at a recent Bonn, Germany press conference. Its ready acceptance in the mainstream market clearly indicates that singer-songwriter albums are experiencing a resurgence in popularity amongst the mainstream music community."

Leading German independent record producer Andreas (Recky) Reck, who produced Wasted Time" shares Brosnans excitement about this release. "Mike Brosnans lyrics are deep and real, and his voice is so emotive, so believable. And he is backed on this project by premier musicians from New Zealand, Germany and Austria, including Silver Scroll winner Wayne Mason on keyboards."

Gifted with vocal, guitar, keyboard, and writing talents, Brosnan began his music career when he began studying classical piano at age five. Seemingly destined for a career as a concert pianist, at fifteen he was playing keyboard with rock bands, and at age seventeen he began writing original music. Focussing initially on the NZ contemporary music market, from the early 1990s, Brosnan took his music to The World, enjoying an increasing level of success.

Since that time Mike Brosnan has successively toured the world performing his special brand of rootsy acoustic rock. And during that time he has earned a truly enviable reputation internationally as a particularly gifted acoustic guitarist. And his slide guitar playing always draws particularly positive comment.
