Chris Kelly, one half of the multi-platinum selling rap group Kris Kross releases solo debut.
April 29th, 2003, Atlanta, Georgia -- Chris Kelly of the multi-platinum group Kris Kross, now known as "The M.A.C," is back with his new album, "The M.A.C. Self-Titled The Mac." At the end of last year, Kelly, decided to produce his first solo effort.
Six years have passed since the release of Kris Kross last album, the platinum selling Young, Rich and Dangerous. During this hiatus, M.A.C. has been hard at work in his Atlanta based studio honing his skills and perfecting the unique sound of his upcoming album.
M.A.C.s first solo project, scheduled for release Tuesday April 29th, 2003, features a slate of diverse tracks. "Watch What Ya Doing," which is already a club favorite on Atlanta night club scene, features a rich acoustic guitar over a mid-tempo club beat. M.A.C. lives up to his dirty south roots in street anthem "Down in the Dirty," which features Atlanta rapper Rasheeda. "There is something on this album for everyone," says The M.A.C. "There's something for the hip hop heads, R&B fans, Reggae fans, everybody. What adds to the album is the fact that I wrote all of the songs on it. The songs reflect my life experience."
In between starting his own record label, C-Co. Records, and producing his upcoming solo project, M.A.C. has been doing behind the scene production for several of his own artists. The Atlanta hometown favorite has also been hard at work with the Chris Kelly Foundation, a non-profit organization providing resources for disadvantaged children in the Atlanta community. This Christmas the Chris Kelly Foundation gave away over 500 toys to needy children in the local community.
