SAND BENEATH THE PAWS - IT'S TIME TO TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE BEACH USING DOGFRIENDLY.COM'S FREE UNITED STATES AND CANADA COASTAL BEACH GUIDE

Free Online Listings and Descriptions of 200 Dog-Friendly Beaches along with tips for making the visit enjoyable for the dog, family, and other people alike

POLLOCK PINES, California -- April 29, 2003 -- DogFriendly.com (http://www.dogfriendly.com), one of the most popular Internet providers of dog travel information, announces its new free online dog-friendly beach guide and dog beach etiquette suggestions. The beach guide lists coastal beaches by state and includes descriptions of each beach including dog policies and regulations. From Maine to Florida in the East, from Alabama to Texas along the Gulf of Mexico and from California to British Columbia in the West, this guide looks at beaches that allow pups to accompany their families. There are two-hundred beaches currently listed in the DogFriendly.com beach guide. While there are over a thousand beaches along the oceans, gulfs, and bays, only a fraction of them allow dogs. DogFriendly.com also explores the reasons why dogs are not allowed at many beaches and provides tips for dog owners while at the beach. DogFriendly.com hopes that by following these tips and suggestions dog owners will eventually have access to more beaches for their enjoyment as well as the enjoyment of others.

"Beaches are always one of the most popular destinations of people with dogs. DogFriendly.com wants to promote the safe and enjoyable use of beaches by dogs and their families", says Tara Kain, founder and president of DogFriendly.com. "By researching policies and creating a list of beaches that allow pets to visit, DogFriendly.com is making it easier for people with dogs to find a beach in their area. In addition, we realize that dog owners have a responsibility to be aware that their dog needs to co-exist with many other beach users. Our dog beach etiquette suggestions should help dogs to do this."

Among DogFriendly.com's suggestions for dog people while at the beach are to always obey the leash laws and hours specified for dog use, clean up after your dog and do not let your dog visit with other beach-goers or dogs unless clearly welcomed first. If the area is an officially sanctioned off-leash area, do not let your dog off-leash unless your dog is well-behaved around people and other dogs and will listen to your verbal commands. DogFriendly.com's dog beach directory and beach etiquette information is available by going to http://www.dogfriendly.com/beach.

DogFriendly.com, online since 1998, offers a large collection of free dog travel information online and a collection of printed dog-friendly travel guides and e-books for traveling dogs everywhere throughout the United States and Canada.
