Cedar Brewing Company Awarded World Beer Championship's Bronze Medals

Cedar Rapids, IA - Cedar Brewing Company's Red Rocket Ale and Flying Aces Ales were both awarded the bronze medals in the English and American ale categories at the 2003 World Beer Championships competition held in Chicago, IL.

The Red Rocket Ale and Flying Aces Ales are designed and brewed by the Cedar Brewing Company's Brewmaster, Mike Snyder, who has been brewing the ales since the brewpub's inception seven years ago in 1996. The bronze metals are in addition to the bronze medal for the Black Cobra Stout that was also awarded by the World Beer Championships competition in the dry stout category in January, 2003. The World Beer Championship judges describe the world class Red Rocket Irish Ale as "deep orange-amber hue. Toasted malt aromas follow through on a medium-bodied palate with a lingering bitter hop and astringent finish," while the Flying Aces Ale is described as "Golden-red hue. Bitter herbal and roasted grain aromas follow through on a medium-bodied palate with a dry and hoppy finish."

Since 1994, the World Beer Championships have been conducted by Chicago's Beverage Testing Institute (BTI), an independent company without affiliation to brewers, associations or any brewing event that specializes in flavor evaluations. The January to December competition judges approximately 1,000 beers each year.
