SANDecon Engages in Massive One-Day Recycling Effort

Non-Profit Organization Aims to Recycle 15 Tons of Steel from Oceanside Company

OCEANSIDE, California (PRWEB) April 29, 2003 -- April 28, 2003 -- SANDecon (the Strategic Alliance for Neighborhood Development), a non-profit organization in North County San Diego, has announced plans on Wednesday, April 30th, to recycle an estimated 30,000 pounds of steel or more in a single day. SANDecon will work with Isaiah Taylor at the Highway Company, to recycle fifteen tons of steel debris from the site at 305 Wisconsin Street in Oceanside.

Said Taylor, The team from SANDecon is helping us recycle a significant amount of material that were not using and that would otherwise be sent to landfills."

SANDecon was founded with the mission of creating alliances between non-profit and private enterprises to rebuild low-income communities by creating employment opportunities, lowering demolition costs, and salvaging building materials for resale and reuse.

In this particular case, SANDecon is assisting in recycling the surplus material as a part of an ongoing partnership agreement with the Highway Company to help promote recycling in the local business community.

Peter Bedell, Executive Director of SANDecon, stated, It's in our name to make strategic alliances with other organizations that try to develop our neighborhood. What we're trying to do is conduct business in a manner that is both environmentally and socially just, and commercially viable at the same time."

All salvaged materials from todays efforts will be processed locally in Oceanside.
