Purafil, Inc. announces Enersave energy-savings program
New program uses ASHRAE 62s IAQ Procedure to reduce the need for outside air by 75%
Doraville, GA-Purafil, Inc., the leading manufacturer of gas-phase air filtration systems, announces Enersave, a new energy-savings program that reduces the need for outside air by 75% in commercial buildings and offers significant savings on energy and operational costs. Based on a recent interpretation of ASHRAE Standard 62-2001, the program uses the standards IAQ Procedure, which "allows the use of any amount of outdoor air deemed necessary" if the designer can show that indoor air quality is acceptable to human occupants.
The Purafilter® is key to Enersave and the successful implementation of the IAQ Procedure. Designed to replace existing particulate filters, the Purafilter is the only filter with potassium permanganate, a powerful active oxidant, and activated carbon to remove the broadest range of contaminants. By using the Purafilter, contaminants are eliminated from the airstream rather than diluted with outside air.
Enersave also provides documentation and ongoing verification reports required by ASHRAE 62s IAQ Procedure.
Enersave works in existing buildings, rework applications and new constructions. For existing buildings, the program extends equipment life by reducing demand on heating and cooling equipment without additional capital expenses. In buildings faced with occupancy changes or chiller redesign, Enersave reduces net outside air
requirements and eliminates major capital costs. For new applications, the program decreases overall equipment sizing, thus providing a balance of energy savings and proper ventilation.
The IRS in Jacksonville, Fla. recently applied Enersave and saved a substantial amount of money during an occupancy change. When they moved into a downtown building, they would have had to remodify the facility significantly to comply with ventilation codes. By using Enersave, they avoided major ductwork and did not have to add air handling units. The project took four months to implement.
For more than 30 years Purafil, Inc. has developed gas-phase air filtration technologies that eliminate and control corrosive, odorous and toxic gases from commercial, industrial, municipal and cleanroom environments.
