In an effort to inform the public of the importance of public speaking skills,

A PROCLAMATION
TOASTMASTERS WEEK
Whereas:
The fear of public speaking is one of people's biggest fears. In today's competitive job market, compaines are seeking employees who possess both technical and communication skillls. Therefore, the ability to relate ideas effectively and coherently is essential to advancement in almost all occupations; and
Whereas:
For over 70 years, hard-working volunteers and staff members have been dedicated to developing and improving the public speaking skills of thousands of individuals across the globe. Their dedication to this cause boosts the levels of confidence and creativity, improves leadership skills and ultimately leads to increased production in the workplace; and
Whereas:
Toastmasters Week is an effort to inform the public of the importance of public speaking and the benefits of improving public speaking skills; now
Therefore: I, Sonny Perdue, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim April 27-May 3, 2003, as TOASTMASTERS WEEK in Georgia and call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
