Peramon extends Wireless IM to Public and Corporate IM Services with SIP/SIMPLE

Users of Public and Corporate IM services are now able extend their buddy lists and chat to mobile IM users without having to change their favourite IM desktop client.

Standards Compliance:
Interoperability between the mobile and wired IM services is achieved by linking Open Mobile Alliances (OMA) Wireless Village Protocol with the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for Instant Messaging and Presence Leveraging Extensions (SIMPLE) standard.

The SIMPLE protocol from IETF provides the guidelines for IM users on different servers to chat to each other. Linking the Wireless Village protocol to SIMPLE extends this scenario to the Mobile World.

Peramon currently supports version 1.2 of the Wireless Village protocol in the client and server components of theMOBILIZER Messenger solution. theMOBILIZER Messenger product addresses the security concerns of the Corporate IM users by encrypting, signing and logging each IM transaction.

The two key components of theMOBILIZER Messenger Server are the SIP Client Adaptor and the SIP Domain Gateway. The SIP Client Adaptor extends the Wireless Village environment to incumbent IM desktop clients that support SIP/SIMPLE. In essence, a user of any SIP/SIMPLE based desktop client, is able receive presence information and chat to mobile buddies" who use Wireless Village IM clients on their mobile Phones and PDAs. The SIP Domain Gateway connects the Wireless Village environment to other IM Domains at the server-to-server level leading to enhanced interoperability.

Available immediately, theMOBILIZER Messenger provides Operators with additional revenue-generating opportunities by offering them the ability to offer easy, appealing ways for their customers to communicate. Operators are able to seamlessly deploy value added mobile services such as Presence, Availability and Location Information, using branded mobile IM clients, to satisfy the demand from consumers to constantly send messages to friends and family from a variety of devices in different ways.
