BorderWare Adds New Cost-Effective Anti-Virus Option to MXtreme Mail Firewall

BorderWare Technologies Inc announced an agreement with Kaspersky Labs, one of the leading data-security software vendors, to add the Kaspersky® Anti-Virus virus scanning technology to the MXtreme Mail Firewall and to establish a radical new pricing model for perimeter virus control products.

Traditionally, email Anti Virus products have been licensed based on the number of users in an organization. This results is increasing costs as new employees are hired, and significant management overhead in tracking license usage. The new Kaspersky® Anti-Virus option changes all that by offering a fixed price of US$1,200 on the entry level MX-200 appliance regardless of the number of users.

The MX-200 retails at $6,000, which means that for a total cost of only $7,200, an end-user can purchase a complete email security solution including warranty and 24/7 support with a leading virus protection solution, based on technologies from an acknowledged expert in the anti-virus industry. The MX-200 is capable of processing tens of thousands of emails per day and is suitable for many mid-sized organisations that may well be paying more for email anti-virus protection alone. The Kaspersky® Anti-Virus option will also be available on the mid-range MX-400 appliance and on the enterprise level MX-800.

With the launch of the MXtreme Mail Firewall in September 2002, BorderWare Technologies set the standard for email security products. MXtreme protects email systems with a layered security model that guards against attacks at all levels, including operating system hacks, malformed messages, Spam, and employee misuse.
