GRID WARS PARALLEL PROGRAMMING CHALLENGE FEATURED AT CLUSTERWORLD CONFERENCE AND EXPO

EI Presents HP-sponsored Parallel Programming Contest to be held live at Premier Conference for Cluster Computing

FORT COLLINS, Colorado (PRWEB) May 1, 2003 -- Engineered Intelligence Corporation (EI) today announced that the next GRID WARS parallel programming challenge, where competing programs written in CxC (C by C") fight for survival of the fittest in a grid of processors, will be held live at the ClusterWorld Conference and Expo in San Jose, June 23-26. HP is again sponsoring the Grid Wars challenge and is providing the computing platform and prizes for this event.

With EIs language for parallel programming, developers are asked to write battle programs and upload them into the GRID WARS battlefield, where they compete for prizes and industry recognition. Those interested in parallel programming -- including scientists, engineers, programmers and students - can download the GRID WARS creation and training software from the web site www.gridwars.com, to easily create battle programs and compete. GRID WARS participants create their battle programs under Windows and the championship will take place on a LINUX-based cluster system, presented live at the ClusterWorld Conference and Expo.

Were excited to join with EI and HP and present Grid Wars at ClusterWorld; attendees can join the event and see the championships live at the leading cluster computing conference," said Bryan Richard, Conference Director for ClusterWorld. Grid Wars shows the power of cluster computing in a fun and interactive way, and anyone interested in parallel computing can participate."

The four-day ClusterWorld Conference and Expo will be held at the San Jose Convention Center beginning June 23 with tutorials. The conference program and exposition will run June 24 - 26. The Grid Wars championship event will be held on June 24.

HP is pleased to once again sponsor GRID WARS, and this event at ClusterWorld, because we share with EI the belief that there is a growing interest among scientists and engineers in parallel programming for Itanium-based Linux cluster environments." said Dave McDonnell, Americas Marketing Manager for HPs High Performance Technical Computing business.. HPs pursuit of cluster-based computing is an extension of its firm belief in the promising future of clusters as a superior solution for scientific computing environments. HPs partnership with EI brings these solutions using CxC to a broad R&D community in need of new approaches for parallel computing. Having Grid Wars at ClusterWorld, where HP is a Platinum Sponsor, is another way to open cluster computing to this community."

The first Grid Wars challenge was a great success, and ClusterWorld is a perfect opportunity to get even more people to try easy parallel cluster computing," explained Matt Oberdorfer, President and CEO of EI. With HPs continued sponsorship and a live competition at the premier cluster computing conference, we can show that parallel computing is available to a wide audience of technical computing users, not just an elite group of experts."
