LearnSlovak.com -- Online Slovak Language Site Now Accepting Students

LearnSlovak.com is an internet based classroom for teaching students the Slovak language. LearnSlovak.com will use a variety of traditional teaching methods along with internet technology to revitalize the learning of the Slovak language. Through streaming audio, online lessons, a chat room, and a discussion board, LearnSlovak.com will teach students all over the world who are interested in learning the Slovak language.

Chicago (PRWEB) May 2, 2003 - boberdoo.com (www.boberdoo.com), a software and web development company based in Chicago, Illinois and Presov, Slovakia, today announced the opening of LearnSlovak.com (www.learnslovak.com).

There are over 2 million Americans of Slovak descent and the vast majority cannot speak any Slovak. The opportunities for them to learn the language are currently extremely limited unless one happens to live close to an area with a large Slovak population like Chicago, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. If a high quality introductory course on the Slovak language is made available through the Internet at little or no costs to users, it could greatly increase the number of people who could learn the language," said Steve Zlatos, Slovak Honorary Consul to Indiana. Learning the language is the single best thing that can be done to reacquaint Slovak-Americans with their ancestral culture and heritage. Now that Slovakia is its own free nation, the timing for such an effort couldn't be better."

The site is run by a full time Slovak instructor who is continually adding new lessons, answering questions, and moderating the chat room and discussion forums. The lessons are currently available both online and through Adobe PDF download files that allow the students to study even when they are not connected to the internet. Additionally, audio files and images make the lessons come to life -- making it both easier and more fun to learn. Nothing can replace learning a language by either immersing yourself in it or having a good teacher personally work with you," said Brad Seiler, founder of boberdoo.com. The problem with these solutions is that they are not practical. We envision LearnSlovak.com as the next best thing to these options and a much more exciting and interactive alternative to learning Slovak through books and tapes."
